Never Land (Never Knights #2) - Kailin Gow Release Day Blitz

I am super excited about the release of Never Land, the second book in the Never Knights series by Kailin Gow.
I've only read Kailin's Frost series, but I love her writing style, I really need to find some time to get stuck into this series too!

Blurb:
Welcome to Never Land, the land of Never and the world of rock, the world of new experiences and sensations, a world where music runs through the veins of the dedicated, and love is taken and given with consequences. Never (Neve) Knight, the lead singer and manager of a band filled with the hottest guys in rock  finally gets the dream that she wanted:  a label signing her band The Never Knights.  It is what she always wanted, a band of her own and playing her own kind of music. Getting her band to where it was came at a high price, including giving up the man who makes her heart race and her blood pound, the man who caused her to nearly lose her band.   As she gets ready to go on her world tour, fate brings her close to Danny Blue again, and she's not sure if she can give him up a second time even if it means losing the band.

You can also win yourself a copy of the first book, Never Say Never and a Coach bag from Kailin bby following this link

Jennifer L Armentrout Summer Blog Tour: Obsidian Review and Giveaway!

So today I have something special to share, I am taking part in the Jennifer L Armentrout Summer Blog Tour, hosted by Kayleigh at K-Books.

I firstly want to say a massive thank you to Kayleigh for organising this tour, she is one of my best blogging friends online and I know how much Jennifer's books mean to her, it's safe to say she's a little crazy when it comes to talking about them!
I do have all of Jennifer's books that have been published so far, but I just hadn't ever gotten round to reading them yet, this year I've discovered that working full time sucks! I've fell way behind with both blogging and reading, I feel totally out of touch with the blogging world :(
Anyway this tour gave me a chance to bite the bullet and get stuck into starting my Jennifer pile, and I'm so glad that I did! I finished Obsidian last night and am halfway through Onyx right now. I'm also super excited to start the Half-Blood series later this week!

So today for my tour stop I'm going to share my review for Obsidian!

Name: Obsidian (Lux #1)
Author: Jennifer L Armentrout
Release Date: 8th May 2012
Date I finished it: 24th September 2012
Source: bought from Amazon

Obsidian was a book that I went into knowing that I would love. I'm a bit late on jumping on the bandwagon with this series, but better late than never I say!
I'm not going to summarise the plot on this one, as I am sure most of you have probably already read it, or know what it's about. So I'm just going to jump straight into my review!

So I gave Obsidian 5 stars, and it deserved each and everyone of those stars.
It is beautifully written, the paragraphs and chapters flow into each other and before you know it your on the last page!

The characters are pure genius, Katy reminds me of myself and so many of my blogger friends, there was parts in the book that she made me laugh so hard my tummy hurt! I was sitting thinking gosh this is me with my blog and how I feel when new review books show up at my door!
Dee is hilarious, she is so fun loving and energetic you can't help but fall for her charm in Obsidian, and of course there is Daemon.
Like I said I went into this book fully prepared to fall for him, and it still hit me like a tonne of bricks!
Oh man if I was a little bit younger, and he was actually real....move over Katy! Seriously though, I really loved watching him grow throughout the book. To me he really started to man up and by the end of the book you can start to see the changes he's had to make to include Katy in his life.

I was a bit unsure about how the whole alien thing would play out but it works wonderfully in this love story. The concept is something completely new to me in the world of YA and if I'm honest it does make a refreshing change from all the usual vampire and werewolf books. I mean I still love those, but it's nice to have a wee change every now and then.

The plot to me didn't seem too fast paced or too slow, it was slap bang in the middle, which I really liked. I felt like I had enough time to get to know the characters and their surroundings before something major happened. So that when something did happen I kinda knew what was going on in their heads, I like having that feeling with characters. I might seem strange, but to me thats what makes them all the more real!

I really loved the ending of Obsidian, it did leave me wanting more but luckily I have Onyx on hand to dive into right away. Overall, Obsidian is a super sexy and heart stopping read! Definitely one of my top 5 reads this year!

Giveaway!!

I am also giving one lucky person the chance to win themselves one of my Handmade Lux bookmarks and Daemon or Dawson bracelets!
I make and sell these over on my Facebook page BelleBooks Charms.
I'm afraid the Giveaway is only open to UK residents due to postage costs.

Of Blood and Bone Release Day!

As most of you will already know, I am a huge fan of Courtney Cole's books.
I constantly rave about the Bloodstone Saga!
I'm so happy to share with the world that Courtney's latest book Of Blood and Bone is out today!

As a little boy, Luca Minaldi was told he was a monster. As an adult, he knows it is true.
He lives in Malta, a fairytale-like place filled with sunshine and sea, beauty and secrets. And Luca’s darkest of secrets is the best kept of them all.
Eva Talbot arrives in Malta for the summer to finish up her doctoral dissertation. When she meets Luca, a mysterious and handsome shipping tycoon, there is an instant attraction, a disturbing and beautiful energy that she has never felt before. But she senses the darkness that lives within him. Eva is hired to care for his mother, who suffers from dementia, but it is Luca who Eva will eventually risk everything to save. Her life becomes a swirling chaos of darkness and romance, of secrets and mystery. And the question that emerges will become the most important answer of all.
Can she save Luca from the darkness that plagues him without losing herself? The answer is a matter of life or death.

About Courtney

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. Every Last Kiss is her debut novel and she followed it with the rest of The Bloodstone Saga (Every Last Kiss, Fated, With My Last Breath and My Tattered Bonds).Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.

Here is a teaser from the book!

“Evangeline,” he says softly, his dark eyes glued to mine. “I’m so sorry about the other night.  I wish I could remember.  I wish I could take it back.”

“I don’t,” I tell him honestly.  “I really don’t.”

He gazes out the window for a scant moment more, seemingly deep in thought, before he crosses the room to me.  He kneels in front of me and looks into my eyes.  In this moment, he is as vulnerable as I’ve ever seen him, as I’ve ever seen anyone. He’s completely open to me, hiding nothing.

I want so desperately to kiss him.

“I can’t,” I tell his dark eyes, praying that I don’t fall into them.  “I want to kiss you right now.  But I can’t. You’re my patient.  There are ethics…”

Luca shakes his head, his hands on my knees and his gaze upon mine.  “You aren’t my doctor, Evangeline.  You’re my friend.  I’m simply talking to a friend who wants to help me tonight.  You’re not licensed to practice medicine in Malta, remember?  So where does that leave your ethics?”

He smiles wolfishly and waits without moving.  He’s offering himself to me.  I know that. And it is against his better judgment. He has told me that, as well.  Yet here he is, on his knees in front of me.

I suck in a breath and inhale the air that is so charged with everything that Luca is.

Whatever that is.

It is dangerous on many levels.  I know that.

I reach out unsure fingers and trace the top of his shoulders, moving over the contours. They are so broad, yet so slender at once.  He’s perfectly built.  Strong, lithe and powerful.  I drop my head.  I know that I don’t want to resist him anymore.  For the first time in my life, I’m going to do something that my heart wants to do, not what my head tells me to do.

I grip him tighter with my fingers and pull him to me.  He folds in between my knees, pressing me to his chest.  I can hear his heart thumping rhythmically against mine as my fingers linger on his warm back.

He dips his head and presses his forehead to mine, staring into my eyes.  His are a smoldering and stormy black.

“I’m afraid to get close to you,” he tells me.  “I’m afraid for you.”

“I’m not,” I whisper.  “I’m not afraid of you.  Kiss me, Luca.”

Even I can hear the thick desire in my voice and Luca hears it too.

He groans and covers my mouth with his own, muffling the sound with my lips.  He is pressed so close that he seems to absorb me.  Every plane of his body is against every plane of mine.  I don’t know where he stops and where I start, but it doesn’t matter.  All that matters is him and me and this.

Blog Post from Sophie McKenzie

Today I have a little surprise post for you all, to celebrate the release of Missing Me, the third book in the Girl, Missing Series by Sophie McKenzie.

Sophie has very bravely decided to share some of her secrets on here with my followers!
A massive thank you is in order to Sophie for being brave enough to share these secrets with the world, and for writing such awesome books!
A massive thank you also goes out to the lovely people at Simon & Schuster for making this blog post happen!

So what are you waiting for? Let's spill the beans on Sophie McKenzie!

Secret childhood crush
Okay, this is really embarrassing. When I was very little I had a bit of a crush on Scott Tracey, one of the puppets in Thunderbirds…

Secret favourite snack
I love chocolate covered peanuts, but I worry too much to keep them in the house - my son is allergic to nuts.

Secret comfort read
I come back to The Secret History by Donna Tartt again and again. This book shouldn’t be a comfort read – the plot revolves around two murders and a cover up - but I love re-reading it anyway!

Secret song choice
It’s overblown and sentimental but I have to confess that I really like I Can’t Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon. I’ve no idea why this song appeals to me so much. Normally, I don’t like power ballads at all…

Secret hair envy
When I was growing up I always wanted long, blonde hair – like, say, Charlize Theron (or when I was growing up, Farah Fawcett) rather than my own short, thick dark hair.

Secret ambition
To play the piano brilliantly. Unfortunately I’m hampered by a lack of skill, an absence of aptitude and pretty much zilch intention of practicing…

Secret embarrassing moment
Making myself sick eating an entire tub of brandy butter one Christmas.

Secret idol
The actor, Helen Mirren. I have heard her talk (eloquently) and watched her age (gracefully) and she always manages to be charming, dignified and kind whenever she speaks in public. And she’s a great actor too.

Secret about writing
I’m always saying I love writing stories and I do. But what I tend to tell people less often is that I HATE proof reading. That’s when you go through the typeset copy of your book, right at the end. It’s a time to focus on the niggly details – and the last time you read your story before you see it in print. I think I dislike doing it for both those reasons.

Secret movie choice
The Matrix. This movie has everything I look for in a great film. It’s a thriller with a love story at the heart, plus gorgeous leads, an intriguing premise, stunning visual story-telling and a racy plot. Its style looks very 1990s now - but I still love it.
